Dismantling of a Cannabis Plantation in Midlands
The ADSU and police conducted an operation that led to the discovery of a cannabis plantation in a forested area.
On Friday, July 17, a joint operation between the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) and police forces successfully dismantled a cannabis plantation located in a forested area in Midlands. This initiative was triggered by information provided by the Police Helicopter Squadron, which alerted authorities to the suspicious presence of cannabis crops in the region.
During this operation, ADSU officers managed to uproot a total of 203 cannabis plants, ranging in height from 30 cm to 1.50 m. These plants were seized and destroyed to prevent their commercialization and the continuation of illegal activities related to this cultivation.
For now, the identity of the person behind this plantation remains unknown. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the origin of these crops and to identify the grower. This operation is part of a broader effort to combat drug trafficking in Mauritius, where law enforcement is intensifying its efforts to eradicate illegal cannabis plantations.
