Discovery of a Significant Quantity of Drugs in Sainte-Croix

On Friday, August 7, the anti-drug unit of Mauritius made a significant drug seizure in Sainte-Croix, highlighting the ongoing efforts of authorities in the fight against drug trafficking.
This operation took place during a routine patrol conducted by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) around 3:45 PM. The patrolling officers noticed an abandoned backpack near the changing rooms of the Abercrombie football field, which piqued their interest.
A thorough search of the bag revealed the presence of three distinct packages, containing both heroin and synthetic cannabis. The first package contained 231.31 grams of heroin, while the other packages contained an unspecified quantity of synthetic cannabis. This seizure underscores the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in their battle against drug trafficking on the island.
This discovery raises concerns about the presence of illicit drugs in publicly accessible areas and highlights the need for constant vigilance and regular interventions to combat the drug scourge in Mauritius.
