Arrest of a Young Man in Trèfles for Drug and Suspicious Money Possession
A 22-year-old cleaner was apprehended during a search of his home, with a significant amount of money and drugs.
A 22-year-old man working as a cleaner was arrested on Friday, August 7, in Trèfles during an operation conducted by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU). The search took place at 10:30 AM at his residence.
During the search, ADSU agents discovered several compromising items. They seized approximately 0.20 grams of cannabis, as well as 2.11 grams of cannabis stems. Additionally, a pack of rolling papers and a homemade device intended for drug consumption were also confiscated.
Meanwhile, a sum of Rs 100,210, suspected to be linked to drug sales, was seized. The young man was subsequently placed in custody for the investigation.
This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of authorities to combat drug trafficking and the use of illegal substances in Mauritius.
