Significant Cannabis Seizure in Baie-du-Cap
The ADSU continues its fight against drug trafficking with a recent cannabis seizure in Baie-du-Cap.
The fight against drug trafficking in Mauritius continues, as evidenced by an operation carried out by the Western Division of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) in Baie-du-Cap. During a search conducted on Monday, August 10, ADSU agents discovered a significant quantity of cannabis, estimated at over Rs 4.5 million.
This seizure was the result of meticulous surveillance over several weeks prior to the intervention. ADSU detectives monitored activities around the targeted house, which allowed them to gather evidence before the search. During the operation, police seized ten plastic bags, all filled with cannabis, hidden under a bed.
A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been brought before the court to face charges related to this seizure. This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of Mauritian authorities in the fight against drug trafficking, an issue that remains concerning on the island.
