Interrogation of Two Unemployed Individuals in Chamouny for Possession of Psychotropics
Two unemployed individuals were apprehended by the police in Chamouny, highlighting the challenges of drug-related crime in Mauritius.
On Tuesday, July 21, in Chamouny, officers from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) arrested two men, a 21-year-old driver and his 35-year-old passenger, both unemployed. This operation highlights the growing issues of drug-related crime in Mauritius.
The police conducted a search of the vehicle in which the suspects were traveling, discovering several psychotropic substances. In addition to these drugs, a sum of Rs 1,175, suspected to be linked to drug trafficking activities, was also seized from the driver.
Following this arrest, law enforcement carried out searches at the homes of the two individuals in Saint-Aubin as part of their investigation. This intervention underscores the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and the challenges it poses for Mauritian authorities.
