Arrest of a VIPSU Policeman in Anti-Drug Operation in Triolet
A VIPSU policeman was apprehended by the ADSU during an operation, revealing a drug trafficking network in Mauritius.
On July 22, an operation conducted by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) in Triolet led to the arrest of a 33-year-old VIPSU policeman. He was intercepted while in possession of 345.03 grams of cocaine, with a street value estimated at over Rs 5 million.
ADSU officers, having received precise information, set up this operation at 7e Mille, Triolet, to seize a drug package. In addition to the cocaine, the policeman also had Rs 8,000 and 150 Australian dollars at the time of his arrest.
Following his apprehension, the officer was placed in custody while investigations continue to dismantle the drug trafficking network he may be part of. This operation underscores the ADSU’s commitment to combating drug trafficking in Mauritius, even targeting elements within the law enforcement agencies.
This seizure represents a significant blow to drug trafficking on the island and highlights the challenges faced by authorities in their fight against this scourge.
