Seizure of Synthetic Drugs in Port-Louis
The ADSU and CANS intercept a package containing over 2 kg of synthetic drugs.
On Wednesday, August 5, Mauritian authorities made a significant seizure of synthetic drugs at the Parcel Post Office in Port-Louis. This operation was carried out by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) in collaboration with the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS).
Officers examined a package from France that had arrived in Mauritius the same day by air. During this examination, they discovered two black plastic containers, carefully hidden. These containers held two blue plastic bags.
Analyses revealed that one of the bags contained a brown substance weighing 1.15 kg, while the other contained a sticky blue powder, the total weight of which was not specified in the report. This seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of authorities to combat drug trafficking on the island.
This operation comes at a time when authorities are increasing their vigilance in response to the rise of synthetic drug-related activities, which pose a major challenge to public safety.
