Discovery of Cannabis in Baie-du-Cap
A search in Baie-du-Cap revealed the presence of three kilograms of cannabis, strengthening efforts against drug trafficking in Mauritius.
On Monday, August 10, an operation conducted by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) in Baie-du-Cap led to the seizure of three kilograms of cannabis. This search, which took place at the home of a 42-year-old man, uncovered several drug packets hidden under a bed.
ADSU agents found a total of ten packets containing cannabis, with an estimated market value of Rs 4.5 million. The operation also involved the suspect’s brother, who was present at the scene during the search.
This seizure highlights the ongoing struggle of Mauritian authorities against drug trafficking, a persistent scourge on the island. Operations of this kind aim to reduce drug supply and dismantle trafficking networks.
