Drug Seizure in Bambous: Homeless Man Arrested

On Wednesday, August 26, a 44-year-old homeless man was arrested by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) in Bambous. This intervention highlighted troubling issues regarding drug consumption in the country.
During a search conducted by ADSU officers, a significant quantity of illicit substances was discovered on the suspect. The agents found drugs carefully packaged for resale, indicating potential involvement in drug trafficking.
The seizure revealed a varied arsenal of narcotic products, including:
- 85 aluminum foils containing a total of 5.49 grams of synthetic cannabinoids.
- 30 aluminum foils containing 1.19 grams of heroin.
- 13 aluminum foils of crystal meth totaling 0.13 grams.
- A resealable bag containing 505 cannabis seeds.
This arrest raises concerns about the state of drug consumption in Mauritius and underscores the need for increased vigilance against this scourge. Authorities continue to closely monitor drug-related activities on the island, as the fight against drugs remains a priority.
