The sign displaying a speed limit of 40 km/h on the deceleration lane at La Vigie was taken down after just a few hours of being in place. This decision comes in response to strong criticism expressed by numerous motorists on social media.

The controversy began with a post in the Facebook group Road Safety & Traffic Awareness, where many road users deemed this speed restriction inappropriate for that lane. According to motorists, the limit was considered too low and did not reflect the actual traffic conditions.

In light of this backlash, the Ministry of Transport quickly convened a technical meeting to address the situation. Following this meeting, it was decided to remove the sign, allowing motorists to travel at a higher speed on this section of the road.

This removal raises questions about the need for more effective communication between authorities and road users to avoid such situations in the future. Road regulation decisions, while often motivated by safety concerns, must also take into account the realities of daily traffic.
