On July 24, 2026, the Environmental Police conducted a control operation across the island from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This initiative aimed to enforce environmental laws as well as the Highway Code, leading to the issuance of 32 fines.

Among these violations, 14 were related to littering, often referred to as “Illegal Littering.” This phenomenon, which poses a threat to the environment, was particularly targeted during this operation. Authorities are seeking to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

At the same time, road checks were also intensified, with 14 vehicles penalized for excessive smoke emissions, in violation of existing environmental standards. These measures aim to reduce air pollution and promote environmentally friendly driving.

This operation is part of a series of initiatives taken by the authorities to strengthen environmental regulation. The Environmental Police continues to work towards the protection of the island and to educate citizens about ecological issues.
