Users of Google Maps will soon have the opportunity to virtually explore Mauritius thanks to a new initiative aimed at integrating the island into the Street View service. This campaign, which runs from July 19 to August 21, involves vehicles equipped with panoramic cameras traveling various roads on the island to capture 360-degree images.

Until now, coverage of Mauritius on Google Maps was very limited, making it difficult for users to truly explore the island’s landscapes and roads. With the arrival of this project, users will not only be able to view the roads but also discover iconic locations and natural scenery.

This project is led by World Travel in 360 (WTI 360 Ltd), which aims to enhance the island’s accessibility on digital platforms. By integrating these images into Google Maps and Google Earth, Mauritius will offer an immersive experience to those wishing to explore the island from home or plan their trip.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote tourism in Mauritius, highlighting its natural and cultural riches. The ability to virtually explore the island could also attract more visitors by giving them a taste of what Mauritius has to offer before their arrival.

Residents and tourists will thus be able to immerse themselves in Mauritian culture and discover tourist sites, beaches, and local attractions through this advanced visualization technology. The integration of Mauritius into Google Street View could also encourage the development of other online tourism services, facilitating travel planning.

In summary, this 360-degree photography campaign represents an important step towards better representation of Mauritius on digital platforms, allowing a global audience to better understand this unique destination.
