CEB Supports Access to Solar Energy for Vulnerable Households
The Central Electricity Board provides photovoltaic kits to families, promoting their energy autonomy.
The Central Electricity Board (CEB) of Mauritius is launching an initiative aimed at improving the energy autonomy of vulnerable households. As part of this initiative, a first group of one hundred families will benefit from solar photovoltaic kits, enabling them to officially own the equipment installed on their rooftops.
A handover ceremony is scheduled for August 12, 2026, in Ebène, where the CEB will transfer ownership of the solar kits to the families concerned. This initiative is part of a commitment to encourage the use of renewable energy and reduce electricity costs for low-income households.
By allowing beneficiaries to produce their own electricity through solar energy, this initiative is expected to contribute not only to financial savings but also to provide access to a more sustainable energy source. The CEB hopes to strengthen the autonomy of households while participating in the country’s energy transition.
