FCC Opposes the Dismissal of Charges Against Devianee Ramchurn
The Financial Crimes Commission contests the request to dismiss money laundering charges in the suitcase case.
The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) has recently expressed its opposition to Devianee Ramchurn’s request to dismiss the money laundering charge against her. This decision comes in the context of the suitcase case, which allegedly involves a substantial amount of around Rs 113.8 million.
On August 13, the case was reviewed in the Pamplemousses District Court. During this hearing, the FCC, represented by lawyer Me Ramsooroop, made it clear that it would contest the defense’s request. The Commission aims to maintain the ongoing charges against Ramchurn, emphasizing the importance of this case in the fight against financial crime.
The next hearing to examine the FCC’s arguments is scheduled for October 27. This date will be crucial for the future of the case and for the decision regarding the request to dismiss the charge.
