Death of a Young Man After an Accident in Sainte-Croix
A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 19-year-old, 19 days after the incident.
On August 21, 2026, a 19-year-old man, Hansley Emiliano Louis, succumbed to his injuries, 19 days after a serious road accident that occurred in Sainte-Croix. The accident took place on August 2, at Pont Latannier on Nicolay Road.
On that day, Hansley was a passenger on a motorcycle that was involved in a collision with a bus. The bus driver, a 27-year-old man from Nepal, was not injured in the accident. Hansley and the motorcyclist were quickly transported to Jeetoo Hospital in Port Louis for emergency care.
Unfortunately, despite the doctors’ efforts, Hansley Emiliano Louis did not survive his injuries and passed away nearly three weeks after the accident.
This tragedy once again raises the issue of road safety in Mauritius and the importance of cautious driving to prevent such tragedies.
