National Consultation to Define the Mauritian of 2050
Mauritius engages in a reflection on the country's future with the participation of authorities.
The Mauritian government recently launched a national consultation titled « Vision 2050 » to define the profile of the Mauritian of tomorrow. This initiative took place in a solemn setting at the Octave Wiehe auditorium, where the minister and the Prime Minister spoke to emphasize the importance of this approach.
This consultation aims to establish a clear and shared vision for the country’s future, focusing on key themes such as advanced economy, high incomes, social inclusion, and sustainability. The Mauritian authorities place particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, which are expected to play a central role in the island’s future development.
Indeed, the government anticipates that AI, along with digital services and fintech, will be essential drivers of economic growth. These technologies are seen as levers to enhance the competitiveness of the Mauritian economy on the global stage.
The consultation also aims to gather ideas and aspirations from citizens to incorporate their perspectives into this long-term vision. Participants are encouraged to share their thoughts on what the Mauritian of 2050 should be like, both economically and socially as well as environmentally.
This inclusive approach is considered crucial for building a future that is not only prosperous but also equitable for all Mauritians. The government aims to ensure that every voice matters in shaping this collective vision.
In a constantly evolving global context, Mauritius positions itself as a dynamic player, ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow through strategic planning and the engagement of its population.
