The 2026 session of the School Certificate (SC) and Higher School Certificate (HSC) exams in Mauritius is expected to welcome a total of over 21,700 candidates. This significant increase compared to previous years illustrates the growing enthusiasm for education in the country.

Among the candidates, 13,490 will sit for the SC, including about 800 from Rodrigues Island. Additionally, 8,223 candidates are registered for the HSC. The HSC exams are scheduled to begin on September 17, 2026, while the SC exams will start the following day, September 18. All exams will take place until November 13.

Details regarding the exam schedule will be provided to candidates by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES) in the coming weeks. This advance preparation aims to ensure that all candidates are informed of the timings and modalities of the exams, facilitating their organization and preparation.

This increase in the number of candidates can be interpreted as a positive sign for the Mauritian educational system, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of education in the personal and professional development of young people. The government and educational institutions are called upon to continue supporting this momentum by improving access to and the quality of education.
