Cannabis Trafficking: A La Gaulette Resident Remains in Custody

A 37-year-old man, identified as Ravindra Chimajee and nicknamed « Kris, » has been kept in custody following charges related to cannabis trafficking. This decision was made during his appearance before the Bambous court on September 1, 2026.
According to reports, the individual was arrested on July 31, 2026. His capture follows the seizure of a significant shipment of cannabis weighing 155.7 kg in La Réunion. The market value of this seizure is estimated at around 234 million Mauritian rupees.
The police strongly oppose his release on bail, leading to the extension of his detention until September 22, 2026. This case highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region, and authorities remain vigilant in the face of this growing phenomenon.
