Shaan Kumar Choolun, also known as Mithun, appeared in court facing multiple charges related to cannabis and ammunition trafficking.

Shaan Kumar Choolun, also known by the nickname « Mithun, » appeared before the Rivière Noire court on August 31, 2026. This hearing is part of a case involving cannabis and ammunition trafficking, for which he was remanded in custody following his appearance.
The suspect faces three provisional charges, the first of which concerns incitement and complicity in the commission of a crime. This charge is linked to an investigation that uncovered an alleged trafficking of 155.7 kg of cannabis, intercepted on the maritime route connecting Réunion to Mauritius. Authorities were able to establish connections between several individuals, thanks to communications found on the phones of the Réunion suspects.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of trafficking operations involving Mauritian contacts. The judiciary has therefore decided to keep the suspect in detention to ensure the proper conduct of the investigation.
