Regulation of Hajj Pilgrimage in Mauritius
A new regulatory framework has been established to improve the pilgrimage conditions for Mauritians attending Hajj.
The Mauritian government recently announced a revision of the regulations governing the Hajj pilgrimage, aimed at improving conditions for Mauritians wishing to participate in this spiritual journey. According to the new guidelines, the minimum number of pilgrims required per operator has been increased from 50 to 100. This decision aims to ensure better organization and more efficient management of trips to Saudi Arabia.
The relevant authorities emphasized that by raising this threshold, they seek to facilitate logistics and optimize the services offered to pilgrims. Travel operators will thus need to adapt to this new requirement, which could also influence the prices and packages offered to participants.
In parallel, the government clarified that it will implement additional measures to ensure the safety and well-being of Mauritians during their stay in Saudi Arabia. This includes strengthening controls and support throughout the pilgrimage, in order to address concerns expressed by pilgrims in the past.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize and regulate practices related to Hajj, in line with international standards. Officials hope that these changes will contribute to a more enriching and peaceful pilgrimage experience for all concerned Mauritians.
