Arrest of Nine Foreigners in Phoenix for Illegal Stay
An operation by the DICU led to the apprehension of Nepalese and Bangladeshi nationals.
An operation conducted by the DICU (Divisional Crime Investigation Unit) in Phoenix resulted in the arrest of nine foreign nationals for illegal stay. This intervention took place on the night of Wednesday, August 12, around 3 a.m., in a house located in Mesnil.
The authorities apprehended four men from Nepal and five others from Bangladesh. According to information provided by the Phoenix police, these nine individuals have been detained and are awaiting repatriation to their country of origin.
This operation is part of the efforts by Mauritian authorities to regulate the stay of foreigners on the territory, particularly to combat illegal immigration.
