An operation by the ADSU led to the arrest of two suspects in possession of over 3,400 cannabis seeds in Palma.
Two individuals were arrested in Palma, in the Quatre-Bornes region, during an operation conducted by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) on August 12. This intervention is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Mauritius.
The first suspect, a 22-year-old man working as a laborer, was apprehended at his home around 10 a.m. During the search, officers seized 1,700 cannabis seeds hidden in a transparent plastic bag.
About twenty-five minutes later, a second search was conducted at the home of a 64-year-old retiree, also residing in Palma. ADSU officers discovered 1,716 cannabis seeds there. Both men have been detained for questioning.
These arrests highlight the efforts of Mauritian authorities in the fight against drug-related crime, an issue that is increasingly concerning society.
