In the first six months of 2026, Mauritius saw its gross tourist revenue reach Rs 55.893 billion, marking an increase from the Rs 47.4 billion generated during the same period in 2025. This increase represents approximately 17.9%, according to data published by the Bank of Mauritius on August 7.

This growth in tourist revenue has been consistent each month since the beginning of the year. In January, revenue saw a notable increase, rising from Rs 8.553 billion in 2025 to Rs 11.287 billion in 2026. February also recorded growth, with revenue of Rs 9.339 billion, followed by Rs 9.564 billion in March.

The figures indicate that a positive trend has taken hold in the sector, suggesting a renewed interest in the Mauritian destination. Tourism, a key pillar of the local economy, continues to play a fundamental role in the island’s economic development.
